Artist
Judith Scott
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, 1943 – 2005
Judith Scott was an independent visual artist which, in spite of her deafness and Down’s syndrome, developed her art practice producing a genuine and remarkable body of mixed-media sculptures. In 1987 the artist was introduced to fiber art by artist Sylvia Seventy at Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland, CA, reflecting in her sculptures her own unique personal vision: working on founded objects, the artist used to wrap them in carefully selected colored strings to create diverse sculptures of many different shapes.
