Katarina Šević

Born in Novi Sad, 1979 and lives in Berlin

Katarina Šević graduated at the Intermedia Department of the Hungarian University of Fine Art in Budapest in 2004, and completed her DLA studies in 2011. In 2012, she moved to Berlin. Her oeuvre consists of objects, photos, and videos related to her projects which are process-based, and rely on extensive research. She often engages in collaboration, relying on the participation of (large) groups of volunteers and friends. Šević regularly collaborates with the Hungarian artist duo Tehnica Schweiz (Gergely László & Péter Rákosi) in their research-based, collaborative and performative projects, e.g. Alfred Palestra for the Rennes Biennale, in 2014. In 2015, she received the Leopold Bloom Art Award in Budapest.
Šević was the co-initiator and -founder of independent art spaces Dinamo and Impex in Budapest. She also regularly edits and co-publishes books, e.g. We are not Ducks on a pond, but Ships at Sea – Independent Art Initiatives in Budapest, 1989-2009; Die Planung – magazine from the future; Lumen Station Publishing Program.
