Tamar Guimarães attended the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York, the Royal Danish Academy, the Art Academy in Malmö, and Goldsmiths College in London.  Her artistical research involves the use of found and manufactured elements to question dominant histories of modernism. Mining Brazilian and global histories for the aim of her aesthetic inquiries, Guimarães conducts research and hosts discussions before transforming her ideas into tangible artworks. She’s involved in the organization of small, intimate gatherings, collective readings, small-scale public talks and film screenings, invested on the possibilities of creating transient micro-communities and minor public events.
