Hajnalka Tarr
Born in Budapest, 1977 and lives in Budapest
Hajnalka Tarr (1977) graduated at the Painting department of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2006, where she studied in Dóra Maurer’s class. Her work as artistic director of a foundation for people living with autism as well as her studies in art therapy has had a decisive influence on her artistic practice. Through creating meticulous drawings, collages, or objects, Tarr inquires the mechanisms of perception, apprehension, and cognition, questioning the sufficiency of rational thinking and of definitive categorizing in grasping the ever-changing phenomena around us. Her works are mostly process-based, applying methods that are repetitive and time-consuming, to a meditative effect. Currently, she works on her DLA degree at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts.
