Born in 1959 in La Magdalena Tlatlauquitepec, State of Puebla, Germán Venegas studied at “La Esmeralda” (National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking) from 1977 to 1982. He is widely recognised as one of the most outstanding representatives of the generation of artists known as Neomexicanistas during the eighties; his practice combines wood carving and painting in many of its works.
