Karole Vail Named New Director of The Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice

Scholar and nephew of the founder, Karole Vail will lead the museum and direction of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. She will succeed to Philip Rylands, who has been in charge since 1979 and was the first and only director of the collection.

Vail is undertaking the position in Venice this month and will reply directly to Richard Armstrong. The most recent exhibition by Karole Vail for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, organized in collaboration with the Art Institute of Chicago and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, was Moholy-Nagy’s retrospective: “Future Present” (2016 ). She is currently collaborating on the organization of retrospective by Alberto Giacometti, which will be presented at the Guggenheim Museum in New York in 2018.

The press conference- to be held on June 9 at 11.30am – will be attended by Richard Armstrong, Karole P.B. Vail e Philip Rylands.
