My Art Guide New York 2018 Editorial Committee

My Art Guide New York is a digital issue dedicated to the art week in New York from March 5th to 11th 2018, available online and on iOS app.

This edition has been developed thanks to an incredible editorial committee formed by Cecilia Alemani (Curator at The High Line), Anne Pasternak (Director at the Brooklyn Museum), and András Szántó (author and art advisor).
The committee has been working to select the best and most interesting art spaces and exhibitions in town as well as the coolest restaurants and hotels.

Cecilia Alemani is the Donald R. Mullen, Jr. Director & Chief Curator of High Line Art and she is also the Artistic Director of the inaugural edition of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires, schedule to open in September 2018. She was curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale.
Throughout her career, Alemani has collaborated with many museums, institutions, and foundations, and has also pursued more unconventional projects with non-profits and informal organizations. From 2012 to 2017, she served as the curator of Frieze Projects, presented as part of the Frieze Art Fair in New York. In 2011, Alemani worked as guest curator for the performance art biennial Performa 11. She is the co-founder of No Soul For Sale, a festival of independent spaces, non-profit organizations, and artists collectives which took place at X Initiative in June 2009 and at Tate Modern – Turbine Hall in May 2010 as the main event for the museum’s tenth anniversary. From January 2009 to February 2010, she served as Curatorial Director of X Initiative, New York.
Alemani has a BA degree in Philosophy from the Università degli Studi in Milan (2001) and an MA in Curatorial Studies (2005) from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She is a contributor to several art publications including Artforum, Cura, Domus Magazine, Mousse Magazine, Klat, Modern Painters, Art Press, October Magazine, and Flash Art.

Anne Pasternak is the Shelby White and Leon Levy Director the Brooklyn Museum since 2015. During her time at the Brooklyn Museum, Anne has focused on strengthening the Museum as a center for the visual arts that is courageous, pioneering, and inspirational. Through her leadership, Anne has also expanded the Museum’s educational and public program offerings, and she has fostered remarkable special exhibitions, including “The Legacy of Lynching: Confronting Racial Terror in America and We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965–85.
Prior to joining the Brooklyn Museum, Anne served as the director of Creative Time, where she initiated projects that gave artists opportunities to respond to political and environmental challenges, while also expanding their practice and work globally. During her tenure, the organization collaborated with hundreds of artists, including Nick Cave, Paul Chan, Jenny Holzer, and Kara Walker, commissioning and presenting works that ranged from sculptural installations in Grand Central Station’s Vanderbilt Hall to skywriting over Manhattan, as well as Tribute in Light, the twin beacons of light that illuminated the sky above the former World Trade Center site, and continue to be presented on the anniversaries of 9/11.
