This week the city will see the opening of new and special exhibitions in correspondence of the inauguration of some of the most important art fairs. An opportunity to encounter an exceptional quality and range of artwork, featuring the world’s most exciting emerging talents together with iconic names in modern and contemporary art.

The fifth edition of the Frieze New York returns to Randall’s Island Park, Manhattan from May 5–8, 2016. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Frieze, and the first year with Victoria Siddall at the helm as director of Frieze New York.

Art New York and CONTEXT New York, adjacent to each other at Pier 94, begin with an invitation-only VIP Preview event on Tuesday, May 3. The special preview offers collectors, art advisors, curators, and media the opportunity to examine and acquire the finest works available in the market before the fairs open to the public that evening and continuing through Sunday, May 8.

After a successful inaugural edition, Europe’s leading art fair dedicated to Contemporary African Art, 1. 54, returns to New York from the 6-8th of May 2016. 1:54 will showcase 17 exhibitors, presenting over 60 African and African diasporan artists at Pioneer Works, an outstanding industrial building in the vibrant and creative neighbourhood of Brooklyn dedicated to the nurturing and showcasing of art.

The fifth of edition of NADA New York, May 5–8, 2016, will take take place at Basketball City, located at 299 South Street on the East River on the Lower East Side. NADA presents features conversations, events, and performances produced in collaboration with cultural partners and exhibitors.
