Every November, the most important art institutions and galleries, independent exhibition spaces and artist-run spaces in town come together for this week of art. With more than 200 events, Vienna Art Week has become a meeting point for people engaged in arts and culture both in Austria and abroad. It is a reflection of the variety, inventiveness and productivity of Vienna’s art scene.
This year‘s motto, Creating Common Good, has caused many program partners to integrate the complex aspects of this topic into their projects. Vienna Art Week 2015 presents an abundant range of exhibitions, openings, lectures, screenings, tours and trips, performances, conversations and discussions that would not have been possible at this scale without the support of donors and sponsors, particularly the Dorotheum. Their support enabled important parts of the program including the special exhibition entitled Creating Common Good, Open Studio Day, and Curators’ Picks. For the latter program, Vienna Art Week invites eight international curators to Vienna to stimulate discussion and networking between the Austrian and international art scenes.
Vienna Art Week 2015 runs from November 16th to November 22nd, highlights of the week include Baroque Baroque by Olafur Eliasson at the Winter Palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy and Creating Common Good at Kunst Haus Wien.
