Zad Moultaka to Represent Lebanon at 2017 Venice Biennale

The composer and visual artist Zad Moultaka has been appointed to represent Lebanon at the 57th Venice Biennale in the church of Santa Maria della Misericordia, opening in May 2017, by the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.

Born in Lebanon in 1967, lives in Paris.
Composing music for cinema and theater, he has also performed in some of the most distinguished music halls of Europe. For several years, he has been leading a personal search about music language, integrating contemporary western music fundamental data to Arab music specific nature. This search spreads to many experimentation fields.

Interested in the shared heritage between Arabic and Western music, he has also investigated the limits between music and painting in his work, exhibiting his paintings since 2003 in France, Italy and Lebanon.
