Polys Peslikas to Represent Cyprus Pavilion at 57th Venice Biennale

Polys Peslikas is the selected artist who will represent Cyprus Pavilion at this 57th edition of La Biennale di Venezia, under the curatorial duties of Jan Verwoert. The exhibition, entitled “Coming to Life Through the Medium of Painting”, will showcase not only Peslikas’s works, but also the artist group Neoterismoi Toumazou, the writer Mirene Arsanios, and the ceramist Valentinos Charalambous.

The curator Jan Verwoert has announced that Peslikas will exhibit a new set of paintings for this show in Venice and that: “The peculiar appearance of painting in the envisioned exhibition space may be akin to the ghost of a theater curtain, which remains present before your eyes, even when the play is already in progress”, stated.
