The Abraaj Group have just announced the winner of the $100,000 Abraaj Group Art Prize, alongside the Guest Curator and the Shortlisted Artists.
The 2017 winner of the Prize is Bangladeshi-British artist Rana Begum, an artist who works with light, colour and abstraction.
The Shortlisted Artists are Doa Aly (Egypt), Sarah Abu Abdallah (Saudi Arabia) and Raha Raissnia (Iran).
Omar Berrada, Director of Dar al-Ma’mûn (a library and artists’ residency in Marrakech), has been selected as the Guest Curator for this year’s Prize. Berrada will curate a group exhibition at the 11th edition of Art Dubai (March 15-18, 2017), unveiling the major new Prize commission by Begum, alongside works by each of the three shortlisted artists.
