Cartoonmuseum Basel

The museum presents exhibitions and events exploring the field of narrative drawing

St. Alban–Vorstadt 28, 4052, Basel, Switzerland

The only museum in Switzerland devoted to the art of narrative drawing, the Cartoonmuseum Basel initiated in 1979 from art patron and collector Dieter Burckhardt’s initiative, who decided to open to the public his wide collection of caricatures and cartoons. In this way, the “Stiftung Sammlung Karikaturen & Cartoons” was born.

Over the years, the museum has been constantly growing. Nowadays, a varied cultural programme explores different topics, deepening the debate around the art of narrative drawing, collecting individual works, hosting curated exhibitions, and spreading knowledge about the topic.
