Historisches Museum Basel

Basel Historical Museum is housed inside the Barfüsserkirche since 1984. The Museum hosts a selection of highlights from the city’s history, from prehistory to contemporary days. The most relevant acquisitions include medieval tapestries, Renaissance and Baroque collections exhibited in a cabinet of curiosities, and a selection of archaeological findings from Basel’s territory. Worthy of note also the pre-Reformation sacred pieces, collected in the Basel Cathedral Treasury.
