Paço das Artes

The institution Paço das Artes acts in the cultural sphere of São Paulo with an experimental calling and a multidisciplinary approach that stands out from its program of contemporary art exhibitions, courses, lectures, workshops, conferences, hearings and artistic exchanges. Its activities involve adult and children audiences and are set through the various spaces of the centre, trespassing the exhibition area to occupy the lecture and video rooms and, occasionally, the garden and the outside area.

Paço das Artes also tries to establish ties with its visitors and surrounding institutions, such as the University of São Paulo, with an integrated list of activities, namely seminars, lectures, meetings with artists, curators and critics, or international events.

The innovative aim of the institution is focused as well on the training and promotion of new professionals in the cultural field.

In particular its project Temporada de Projetos (Season of Projects), founded in 1997, during the years has lead to the emergence of artists, curators and critics.  A curatorial and nine artistic projects are selected and produced during every edition of the program, that has become widely-known.

Since 1987, the institution has become also the publisher of a vast literature of catalogs and books; among them, some bilingual editions that have been recording the cultural events of São Paulo scene from 2015 on.
