Pedro Figari

The solo show dedicated to Pedro Figari celebrates one of the main exponent of Urugayan Modernist movement. His painting style distinguishes itself for a mixture of gestures and movements and for the desire to explore originally Latin American historical and ethnic roots.

In his paintings, he portrays daily scenes of Afro-Uruguayan communities from their past, such as weddings, dances and popular festivals. The works included in the show focus on these narratives, with the representations of the traditional dance of candombe or the celebrations of the black communities that populate his country.
