Abdul Qader Al Rais: 50 Years of Art

The exhibition hosted at Manarat Al Sadiyaat celebrates Abdul Qader Al Rais’ career, investigating the evolution of his artistic research. The path is divided into different sections, which span 50 years of the artist’s career from his early figurative paintings to his most recent series of calligraphic abstractions. “Abdul Qader Al Rais | 50 Years of Art” is the first exhibition of this scale ever dedicated in the UAE to the artist, collecting for the first time rarely seen works. In particular, they explore a wide range of topics: some of them represent natural subjects, investigating the relationship between man and nature. Some others, part of the ongoing series “Hurufiyyat”, unveil the conceptual nature of Arabic calligraphy while a different body of works document political and social issues in the Arab region.
