Alex Prager: Silver Lake Drive

The Photographers’ Gallery

15 Jun 201814 Oct 2018

Silver Lake Drive collects works by the American photographer and filmmaker Alex Prager, offering an overview of her rich career over the last ten years. The show features more than forty works, encompassing both pictures and her complete filmic oeuvre. It includes some of her distinctive works such as the large-scale Technicolor pictures, shot in richly saturated colour palette.

Her visual references range from the aesthetic of mid twentieth century Hollywood cinema and fashion photography to the images shot by photographers such as William Eggleston, Diane Arbus and Cindy Sherman. Prager’s pictures cross the worlds of art, fashion, photography and film, exposing the human melodrama, both in banal and staged situations.
