This pop-up exhibition takes place at Warehouse 60 in Alserkal Avenue.
As a show where money is useless, Art Barter not only makes artwork more accessible, it also questions the notion of the “art market” as bids are based purely on the works’ aesthetic value. Previous barters that have occurred in the past: a Tracey Emin piece for 30 hours of French tutoring; a Jason Dodge work for a week in a Scottish castle; and the shipping of artworks to Venice in exchange for a Gavin Turk screen-print. Other offers have included Website design, three months of psychotherapy, the design of a publication, a retreat in the South of France and a gallop on a white horse.
