Bill Viola at Cripta Santo Sepolcro

The exhibition begins with “The Quintet of the Silent”, in which a group of standing men are crossed by a wave of intense emotions that threatens to overwhelm them.

The second work, “The Return” belongs to the Transfiguration series and reflects on the passage of time and on the process through which the inner being is transformed.

The path in the Crypt ends ideally with “Earth Martyr”, one of the four works that make up the permanent Martyrs installation, dedicated to the four natural elements (air, water, earth, fire) inaugurated at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in London in May 2014.
