After the major retrospective on the artist hosted by the MoMA in New York, Museo Reina Sofia – in collaboration with San Francisco Museum of Modern Art – is staging the first show ever by the artist in Spain. The exhibition brings together more than 250 works of his fifty-year career.
Spanning from painting and sculpture, film and performance, drawing and printing, the artist explored issues related to the American society in the post-war era: the globalization, the consumer culture and the dread of nuclear apocalypse.
Among the artworks on display the controversial and critically acclaimed sculptures”Child” (1959) and “Looking Glass” (1964) as well as his films “Cosmic Ray” (1961) and “Breakaway” (1966).
