Caso o Acaso

Central Galeria presents “Caso o Acaso”, a collective exposition posing a dialogue between the work of eight artists who wear out and test the resistance of material that is used in various structures and usually considered solid.

The works break, separate, and distort an array of elements such as cement, plaster, wood, clay, ceramic, glass, and even the exhibition space itself.  Deconstructing to reconstruct, constructing to destruct, shaping from old and new architecture, and fusing separate elements to create new objects are all procedures observed in the works of these artists, in which the transformation of the material stands.

These works make palpable the impermanence and intrinsic fragility of the structures they support. Some appear to be remnants of the past that unravel the layers of time, the image of worn away and aged walls, while others restore organicity and movement to the rigid elements of which they are made, like fences and concrete. Pushing boundaries, the works collected in this exposition invite the viewer to consider contradiction, and what lies on the other side of the wall.

“Caso o Acaso” develops individual stories, highlighting the work of each artist and weaving them together to form new dialogues and relationships.
Participating artists are Bruno Baptistelli, Theo Craveiro, Romain Dumesnil, Anna Israel, Manoela Medeiros, Brisa Noronha, C. L. Salvaro e Rodrigo Sassi.
