Guggenheim Bilbao showcases a two-channel video installation the Indonesian artist Fiona Tan presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale in the spaces of the Dutch Pavilion.
Reflecting the artist’s interest into the migration and post-colonial identities, the installation “Disorient” recounts the relationship between the East and the city of Venice, historically one of the major strategic centre for the trade of goods. The video is constructed as a slideshow of legendary memories, objects, exotic tastes, flavors, and colors. An immersive journey into the story of the “Orient of marvels”
