José Parlá: Echo of Impressions

Echo of Impressions features new large-scale abstract paintings and sculptural pieces by artist José Parlá, who investigate topics such as urban space, human markings, and calligraphy. The title of the exhibition refers to the physical impressions left on the city by time and passers-by and the abstract inspirations which imprint in people’s psyche. Inspired by culture, architecture, myth, and language, the artist creates a visual language composed of striking colours and dense textures which allude to the cityscape. The city itself becomes part of the works through incorporated pieces, like advertising posters, political slogans, building debris and recycled materials.
