Juan Roberto Diago: The Pasts of This Afro-Cuban Present

Lowe Art Museum, 1301 Stanford Drive

The Lowe Art Museum houses the retrospective dedicated to the visual artist Juan Roberto Diago, a leading member of the Afro-Cuban cultural movement. “The Pasts of This Afro-Cuban Present” dives into the history of contemporary Cuba offering an improved version of it. Diago attempts to imagine a different past to find explanations of the racial issues affecting Cuba in the current days.

The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora (Miami MoCAAD).
