The exhibition presents the artistic work of the Palestinian artist Jumana Manna for her first time in Spain. Defining herself as a film-maker and sculptor and focusing on historiographical discourses and geopolitics, Manna sets the Middle East in the context of historical events and social and cultural factors that from a micro scale cover some of today’s most important issues. Colonialism, cultural exchange and power are among the underlying themes in her work, both in the fields of film and sculpture.
This show is structured around her last two films, A Magical Substance Flows Into Me (2016) and Wild Relatives (2018) and the sculptural and symbolic world that surrounds both projects.
