Ken Price A Survey of Sculptures and Drawings, 1959 – 2006

Hauser & Wirth London, 23 Savile Row,
London W1S 2ET

Hauser & Wirth London presents Ken Price, a survey of sculpture and works on paper spanning a period of more than 40 years. Working among the innovative artists who emerged in postwar Los Angeles, Price transformed the art of ceramics. Finding inspiration in a diverse array of sources including the Bauhaus, Japanese ceramics, traditional Southwestern pottery and counter cultures of the 1960s, Ken Price emerges as a multi-faceted, ardent, iconoclast, both erudite and exuberant in his work and life. The artist created his own original oeuvre mastering the use of clay, glazes, colouring and form. Drawings and paintings on paper, in their brilliant colours and fantastical subjects, echo the artists sculptures and perceptions of locales where he enjoyed much of his life: Los Angeles and New Mexico.
