The exhibition, curated by Paolo Falcone, brings together 58 images and a series of publications and videos, among which the documentary film “La mia Battaglia” (2016) by Sicilian filmmaker Franco Maresco.

In her practice, started as a photographer in 1971, Letizia Battaglia has been documenting with intense and brutal images the conflicts that shook the city of Palermo, especially in the 1970s and 1980s, the most violent period of the “Mafia Wars” and presented herself as a of social activist and denouncer.

Battaglia also documented life within the poor neighborhoods of Palermo, political movements, and the dawn of new social behaviors, creating images that became iconic.
