Lisi Raskin: Leaden Hearths

Ten years after her first exhibition at the gallery, Riccardo Crespi presents “Leaden Hearts“, a two-fold exhibition of tiny paintings by Lisi Raskin and a video program featuring work by Dineo Seshee Bopape, Tyler Burba, Da Peeblz (Joanna Bellettierre, Teresa Cervantes, Filipe de Sousa, Jorge Galvan, María Leguízamo, Lisi Raskin, Kelsey Skaroff, and Daniel Zentmeyer), Jesse Harrod, Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue, John Monteith, Tameka Norris, and Abbey Williams.

When visitors enter the gallery, they are welcomed by Raskin’s small scale paintings: a body of work assembled over the past five years from vestiges of her large-scale installations. Here, the dedicational intention of the work is nested within the work’s diminutive scale.

As one descends into the lounge space of the gallery, they will find a video program comprised of work by some of the most compelling and relevant contemporary artists working today; acknowledging the necessity of solidarity with other radical makers. While varied in their approach, the videos testify to the fact that profound work that dares to speak its truth can alter the course of how we think and what we make.
