Living With Buildings

Wellcome Collection

04 Oct 201803 Mar 2019

The collective exhibition explores the influences, both positive and negative, of architecture over the physical and mental health of people inhabiting them every day. Since men, in current society, spend most of their day inside built structures, they become very important on an health point of view; the show explores how architecture has affected life inside and around it over the course of history,  presenting some remarkable cases, such as the slums of 19th-century London.
At the same time it features works by contemporary artists and designers such as works by Andreas Gursky, Rachel Whiteread and Martha Rosler, buildings designed by Lubetkin, Goldfinger and Aalto, and a new commission by artist Giles Round exploring the role which colour can play in making us feel better.
