Matteo Pugliese: Spiriti Ostinati

Organized by SEA in collaboration with Imago Art Gallery (Lugano), Spiriti Ostinati (Stubborn Spirits) is an exhibition made by five monumental works of the Italian artist Matteo Pugliese, taken from the series Extra Moenia and Custodi. These cycles belonged to the most recent artist’s production.

Extra Moenia presents men imprisoned in white walls trying to get out and come back to life, expressing all the struggle of this fight with the matter as a tribute to the renaissance sculptors.

The series Custodi, of which are on show three custodians, consist in massive figures inspired by different cultures. Custodi opposed to the battle for life of Extra Moenia the reassuring bodies which become image of inner security achieved, revolutionizing classical canons.
