Dawn of the Swarm is the first exhibition of Merike Estna at Bosse & Baum, featuring paintings by the Estonian artist. During her practice, Estna is largely invested in the process of painting, approaching the artworks as an integral part of life rather than just about life. Her paintings are centred around the all process of production, during which the artist embeds patterns and colours from the crafts and applied arts, using a language that is not often accepted in traditional painting. Etna’s painting involves a strong performative side which constitutes a constant throughout her work, defying the boundaries of the genre and experiencing painting as a living object.
