Parallels and Peripheries

ArtCenter South Florida

10 Oct 201816 Dec 2018

Parallels and Peripheries is the first exhibition of a namesake series of showcases aimed to investigate the practices of eight artists and how they are inspired by the contemporary social, political and personal narratives. The inaugural edition takes place at ArtCenter South Florida, Miami, featuring seven women artists whose works are focused on defying mechanisms of oppression of marginalised communities. Using different media such as photography, painting, sculpture, and books, these artist challenge the status quo to bring to the light the stories of the overlooked, stating at the same time their own creative agency.
