The exhibition at Galerie Knoell features over 20 paintings and bronze models of the recently deceased artist from a Swiss private collection, as well as drawings and monotypes in the second part of the gallery. Per Kirkeby is regarded as the most representative artist of Danish contemporary art. He is known for his versatility: he studied geology at university and works as a lyricist, filmmaker, stage designer and architect. Kirkeby’s experience in geology is reflected in his artistic oeuvre, often inspired by structures and forms from nature.
The show is on view at the same time in both the venues of Galerie Knoell, at Bäumleingasse 18 and Luftgässlein 4, Basel.
Opening Hours during Art Basel: Daily from 10am – 7pm
