First solo exhibition in the UK by the Amsterdam-based Indian artist Praneet Soi, “Anamorphosis” is a new body of work informed by the artist’s examination of the politics of representation continued through his travels in Palestine.
Referenced in the exhibition’s title, anamorphosis is a distortion of an image that requires the viewer to occupy a specific vantage point, use special devices or both to view a recognizable image. Soi has been exploring the technique as a painter. Chosen as the title of the show, the distortions and its resulting abstractions of anamorphosis gain a metaphorical weight when engaged with Palestinian landscapes.
