Rirkrit Tiravanija: Untitled 2019

Argentine artist Rirkrit Tiravanija returns to The Institute of Contemporary Arts London – ICA, with his newly-commissioned permanently-sited work “untitled 2019 (the form of the flower is unknown to the seed)”. The installation enriches the spaces of ICA’s lower bar and consists of a sake bar, furnished with seats and tables, and decorated walls reproducing the light of a sunrise. Even crockery and lighting were planned in detail by the artist and realised in collaboration with artists and design studios.

Tiravanija’s practice often upsets traditional hierarchies, moving the exhibition’s focus from the art object to social interactions. His creative environments bring into play audiences by involving them in everyday activities such as eating, drinking, and reading.
