Sam Havadtoy: Only remember the future
The exhibition testifies to the strong bond of Havadtoy with Italy, “my adopted country”, as he calls it.
It’s in Italy that his works suffers a decisive transformation, back in 2008. This is when he started to use an unknown color palette.I nvited by friends to move to a house overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Havadtoy was able to grasp the suggestions that came from the surrounding landscape. The pointillist technique that characterized his work is enhanced by a more joyful and serene brightness. The artist recalls how “Painting the sea, surrounded by my new friends made me realize that the price of my new life had to be lost or possibly the transformation of the old one. All the memories of the past, evoked by those dots that have helped me get to this point in my life, gave me a new direction.”
The place that welcomes the exhibition also contains a highly symbolic meaning for Havadtoy . This is where in 2008 he held his first Italian solo show.
