The Art of Banksy. A Visual Protest

Museo delle Culture – MUDEC, via Tortona, 56, Milan, Italy

The exhibition is the first one ever dedicated to the irreverent British artist by a public Italian museum and, just like all Banksy‘s previous displays, is not authorised by him. Artist and writer, Banksy is considered one of the leading exponents of contemporary street art, internationally renown for his critical and witty representations which target universal subjects such as politics, culture and ethics. The mystery which surrounds his real identity has turned him in a legend, considerably increasing his fame all around the world.

The exhibition showcases about 80 works including paintings, sculptures and prints by the British artist, accompanied by objects, photographs, and videos, about 60 album and CD covers, which the artist himself curated, and about forty pieces of memorabiliaThe topics addressed in his pieces make him perfectly consistent with MUDEC’s mission to provide insights into the different cultures of the world and into the most compelling contemporary issues, transversally engaging all types of audiences.
