Tracey Emin: A Fortnight of Tears

White Cube Bermondsey presents ‘A Fortnight of Tears’ a major exhibition dedicated to works by Tracey Emin, including sculpture, neon, painting, film, photography and drawing, all of which are attributed to the artists’ memories and emotions brought about by loss, pathos, anger and love.

The exhibition presents a number of new paintings which present a candid energy, rife with emotional turmoil, using a palette of pink and dark red tones alludes to physicality, the journey between birth and death and sexual aggression.

The bronze sculpture The Mother (2017) celebrates motherhood and the female form. Also exhibited are four vitrines which contain works on paper, maquettes and memorabilia curated from the artist’s archive confronting subjects of love, sex, death and fear.

The exhibition concludes with the early film How It Feels (1996) recounts her first abortion in 1990 and how  that crisis led her to the revelation ‘the essence of creativity, that moment of conception… the whole being of everything… it had to be about where it was really coming from’.
