Born in Zürich, Loewensberg’s early influences came from her studies in weaving, colour theory, modern dance and her profound interest in music – especially jazz.
Organised in close collaboration with the Verena Loewensberg Foundation, Galerie Knoell presents the first solo show by Swiss artist Verena Loewensberg with her 20 works on canvas dating from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Most of them are shown to the public for the first time. Whilst her work is now represented in many important museums and collections internationally, Galerie Knoell’s exhibition aims to offer a historic insight into the Swiss Concrete artist, exploring the dialogue Loewensberg created in her oeuvre between intensely theoretical, logical influences and a uniquely energetic, psychological component which characterises her distinctive body of works.
