The finalists of the Middle East Emergent Artist Prize 2015 were announced by the High Jewelry Maison Van Cleef & Arpels. The prize, organized by the Van Cleef & Arpels in partnership with Tashkeel and Design Days Dubai, encouraged all emerging designers from the region to submit proposals of works in product design.

The finalists were chosen from over seventy applicants amongst students, college professors and interior designers, from a range of counties across the GCC. “We are extremely impressed with the level of creativity and personal integrity expressed in the submission artworks. Design Days Dubai are pleased to be a part of a project which creates opportunities for individuals from across the Middle East, nurturing their talents and further developing their artistic muses.” said Cyril Zammit, Fair Director of Design Days Dubai.

Ivan Parati, an Italian Dubai-based teacher of Ajman University, presented TileTable, a modular coffee table with traditional Islamic elements.
Kuwaiti interior designer Loulwa Al Radwan, submitted an Al Sadu inspired concept for a wall hanging piece.
UAE based collective Merehan Kika, Maryam Sherif and Sultan Alqasimi produced renderings of the idea Luminous Waves, a set of organic and flexible installations that play with light and shadow.
Jordanian Interior designer Renad Hussein submitted Hourglass Floorlamp, made of glass and adorned with an Islamic pattern.

The winning design  will be unveiled at the Van Cleef & Arpels stand during Design Days Dubai. The designer will also be the receipient of AED 30,000 to fund the making of their final product as well as a seven day trip to Paris to attend L’ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels, where tuition will be provided by creators of the timeless creations of the Maison.
