Indonesia 2017

Indonesian artist Tintin Wulia represents Indonesia at the 57th Venice Biennale with “1001 Martian Homes”, a project simultaneously in two venues, one in Venice’s Arsenale and the other in Jakarta, consisting of three pairs of identical installations interacting with visitors.

The artist’s work deals with border, territoriality, human movements and passages.

Through this project, inspired by the story of the artist’s ancestral families who had to live and keep commuting between two places, China and Bali, Tintin reflects on the underlying premise of globalization on the borderless world.
