Apparitions

New Gallery of the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice, Campo Santa Fosca, Palazzo Correr, Cannaregio 2214, 30121 Venezia

Geta Brătescu is the selected artist to represent the Romanian Pavilion at this 57th Edition of – La Biennale di Venezia -. The project is curated by Magda Radu, and is titled “Apparitions”.

The artist brings together a body of works made during her whole career, and that display all the stages of her artistic practice. Most of these artworks shown are on view for the first time.  The exhibition “Apparitions” is conceived through the lens of thematic clusters in an attempt to provide a mirror of her studio space, understood both as a physical space and a meta-artistic entity. As the artist states:”Memory is apparition; an epiphany, like art”
