Halprin Anna
Born in Winnetka, Illinois, 1920 and lives in Kentfield
Anna Halprin is an avant – garde dancer, choreographer and a performance art pioneer. She was born in the State of Illinois in the year of 1920, and began her studies at the New Trier High School and then the University of Wisconsin, she studied dance with Margaret H’Doubler. After her wedding she moved with her husband to New York City, where she began to study modern dance, she took part in many New York Performances and she also was chosen for one of the most famous Broadway Musicals ” Sing Out Sweet Land”.
After her retired from the out door dance, Anna with her family moved to Kentfield, and she started to focus her attention on a form of experimantal dance with an experimental group known with the mane of San Francisco Dancers’ Workshop. Her principle intent was to create a pure and absolutely unconventional dance based on movement.
