Artists of Nordic Pavilion at 58th Venice Biennale Announced

Nordic Pavilion during 58th International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale announces its participating artists. The exhibition will feature the works by artist duo Janne Nabb and Maria Teeri from Finland, Ane Graff from Norway and Ingela Ihrman from Sweden. Titled Weather Report: Forecasting Future, it will deal with one of the most compelling issues of contemporary society, that is the relation between humans and other living beings in nature and all its implications.

The chosen artists, working with a variety of media, from installation and assemblage to digital material, performance and text, all merge in their researches visual arts and natural sciences. The exhibition, despite  the intrinsic unpredictable nature of contemporary arts, will try to investigate and forecast the complex influences of humans on surrounding nature in an age when climate change and mass extinction are undermining the preconditions of life on Earth.

The commissioner of the 2019 Nordic Pavilion will be the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma / Finnish National Gallery. The exhibition will be curated by Kiasma’s director Leevi Haapala and curator Piia Oksanen. The co-commissioners of the other Nordic countries are Moderna Museet’s co-director Ann-Sofi Noring and Office for Contemporary Art Norway’s (OCA) director Katya García-Antón.
