ARTBO International Art Fair of Bogota Celebrates its 15th Anniversary
ARTBO – the International Art Fair of Bogota – this year it celebrates its 15th anniversary from September 19th to the 22nd, 2019, featuring 67 galleries from 17 countries, and 5 curatorial proposals as part of the sections Proyectos, Referentes, Artecámara, Articularte and Libro de Artista.
Curated by Aaron Cezar (Director, Delfina Foundation, London, United Kingdom), Proyectos presents 11 projects by acclaimed contemporary artists: Manuel Mendoza Sánchez (Embajada, San Juan, Puerto Rico), Andrea Galvani (Revolver, Lima, Peru – Buenos Aires, Argentina), Iván Navarro (Sketch, Bogota, Colombia), José Alejandro Restrepo and María Teresa Hincapié (Rolf Art, Buenos Aires, Argentina), Nicolás Paris (Elba Benítez, Madrid, Spain), Donna Conlon (DiabloRosso, Panama City, Panama), Julieth Morales (Espacio El Dorado, Bogota, Colombia), Carlos Castro (LA Galería, Bogota, Colombia), William Mackrell (Krinzinger Projekte, Vienna, Austria – The RYDER Projects, London, United Kingdom), Johanna Calle (Galería Moisés Pérez de Albéniz MPA, Madrid, Spain) and Fernando Arias (FORO.SPACE, Bogota, Colombia).
Curated by Krist Gruijthuijsen (Director, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Germany), Referentes focuses on Colombia’s artistic networks through a multi-generational dialogue. Artists involved are Beatriz González, Óscar Muñoz, Nicolás Paris and Adriana Martínez.
Curated by Helena Producciones, a Cali-based artist collective founded in 1998, Artecámara is a section dedicated to young artists with no commercial representation and it presents 27 proposals.
Foro features the theme “15 years of ARTBO,” featuring 32 panelists and 11 talks concerning the recent transformation of the art scene.
Sitio, a section for large-scale artworks, features works by Alfredo Jaar (Galeria Luisa Strina, São Paulo, Brazil), Juan David Laserna (RINCÓN, Bogota, Colombia), Nicolás Robbio (VERMELHO, São Paulo, Brazil), Óscar Abraham Pabón (El Museo / Galería Fernando Pradilla, Bogota, Colombia—Madrid, Spain), Pedro Gómez-Egaña (Zilberman, Istanbul, Turkey—Berlin, Germany).
