My Art Guide Seoul / Gwangju / Busan 2018 Editorial Committee

This first edition of My Art Guide Seoul / Gwangju / Busan has been developed thanks to an incredible editorial committee formed by Chuyoung Lee (Curator at MMCA, Korea), Sunjung Kim (Gwangju Biennale President), Seong-Youn Kim (Director MOCA Busan). The committee has been working to select the best and most interesting art spaces and exhibitions in town.

Chuyoung Lee has been working for the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea as a curator since 1999. His major was painting and art history. He completed research studies at TATE Britain (GB) in 2005 and LACMA (U.S.A.) in 2011. He has specialty in Korean contemporary painting and sculpture. Recent exhibitions and projects include, Outdoor Project: Breathing Landscape(2019/MMCA Gwacheon), Cracks in the Concrete(2018/MMCA Gwacheon), Korea Artist Prize 2016(2016/MMCAm, Seoul), Korean Beauty: Two Kinds of Nature(2014/MMCA Seoul), Hanjin Shipping Box Project: Do-Ho Suh, Uram Choi: Hidden Shadow of the Moon(Site Specific Art Project, 2013/MMCA Seoul), Who is Alice?(Collateral Evert of the 55th Venice Biennale, 2013/Venice, Italy). Dream Walking in the Magical Reality (2012/MMCA Gwacheon) Young Korean Artists: I AM AN ARTIST (2008/MMCA Gwacheon), and etc.

Seong-Youn Kim became the first Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan (MoCA Busan), a public art museum established by Busan Metropolitan City, in 2017. Also, he is a member of Executive Committees of 2018 Busan Biennale which will be held in MoCA Busan in September.
Seong-youn Kim led alternative art movement in Busan, South Korea, from 1999-2011. He established the first local alternative space in 1999 where he curated over 100 exhibitions focusing on emerging artists. As Director of the alternative space, he ran international residency programs, public art projects, and education programs. Kim had also run Busan International Video Art Festival for a decade, and published a monthly magazine, <B-Art>. Moreover, he participated as Guest Curator of Busan Biennale 2010, Visual Arts Director of Moving Triennale 2014, and Executive Art Director of PyeongChang Biennale 2017.

Sunjung Kim is the director of the Art Sonje Center, Seoul, and curator of the REAL DMZ PROJECT, which engages issues surrounding the division of Korea and the border region near the demilitarized zone. From 1993 to 2004, Kim was the chief curator at the Art Sonje Center, Seoul, and in 2005 was Commissioner of the Korean Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale. She has worked on numerous exhibitions of artists such as Martin Creed, Kim Beom, Haegue Yang, Lee Bul, Sung Hwan Kim, and Abraham Cruzvillegas at the Art Sonje Center.  In 2017 Kim Sun-jung has been appointed the new president of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation, Kim Sun-jung codirected the 2012 Gwangju Biennale, “Roundtable,” which featured ninety-two artists from forty countries.
