Softer: An exhibition by Jenny Holzer at Blenheim Palace

This autumn, the Blenheim Palace is renewing its contemporary program with a solo show by American artist Jenny Holzer.

Following the previous commissions by Ai Weiwei, Lawrence Weiner and Michelangelo Pistoletto, the Blenheim Art Foundation is marking its presence in the contemporary art scene by showcasing the most important artists working today within an historic building.

Michael Frahm, Director of Blenheim Art Foundation stated: “We are very excited to work with Jenny Holzer for the Foundation’s 2017 programme. Her vision for the show is extraordinary and this exhibition looks to push boundaries in terms of what visitors expect to see at contemporary art exhibitions. Jenny has been one of art’s strongest and most unique voices since the 1980s, and it is an honour to work alongside her on this new chapter in her work, and to continue to showcase ground-breaking contemporary art at Blenheim Palace.”

For her show, Jenny is taking inspiration from the military history of the palace, dealing with concept of power, conflict and activism. The works she is going to display include site-specific commissions and virtual realty installations, as for her interest in new media art.

The show is opening on September 28 and it’s open until December 31, 2017.
