Ar/Ge Kunst

Ar/Ge Kunst, the Kunstverein of Bolzano, was founded in 1985 in the premises at Via Museo 29. Its name derives from the German Arbeitsgemeinschaft (working group), reflecting an emphasis on collective practice and an openness to the unexpected.

The Kunstverein positions itself as a space for artistic research and production, where new work develops through cross-disciplinary collaboration and engages with social, legal and artistic questions. Exhibitions are conceived as collaborative processes that shape artistic and social dialogue, supported by new commissions and formats arising from research, storytelling, urban and rural walks, listening sessions and podcasts.

The current curatorial programme explores new collective forms of cultural production, particularly how acts of imagination and fabulation can become shared practices. Ar/Ge Kunst functions as a platform for fabulation—an environment for producing stories that move between reality and fiction, historical reconstruction and invention—opening up a space for new ways of imagining political action.
