Manifattura Tabacchi

Manifattura Tabacchi is an ex-industrial complex constructed in the 1930s, which is situated to the west of Florence’s city centre. With production ceasing in 2001, it is now the focus of an ambitious urban regeneration project that aims to breathe new life into this neighbourhood, making it a centre for contemporary art and culture, complimenting the historic city centre, and open to both the local community and the wider world. Manifattura is currently preparing a space entitled NOT A MUSEUM, which will welcome initiatives that promote experimentation and production in the arts and sciences, a prototype for its final end use within the Manifattura of the future.
